COINTABLE

COINTABLE works like GOOGLEFINANCE, for crypto. =COINTABLE("BTC") is the Bitcoin price in US dollars, and =COINTABLE("BTC/EUR") is the price in euros. It covers 10,000+ coins in 63 currencies.

Syntax

=COINTABLE(coin, [attribute], [period or date])
  • coin: A ticker like "BTC", or "BTC/EUR" for another currency (USD by default). Or a cell like A2.
  • attribute: Optional, "price" by default.
  • period or date: Optional, and only after attribute.

If your spreadsheet uses a decimal comma, as in most of Europe, separate arguments with semicolons: =COINTABLE("BTC"; "changepct"; "7d").

Pairs

Write a pair with a slash: "BTC/EUR", "ETH/BTC". A colon, a dash or a comma shows an error with the right spelling, such as For a pair write "BTC/EUR". GOOGLEFINANCE's "CURRENCY:BTCEUR" works too.

  • change is in money and changepct in percent, as in GOOGLEFINANCE: 1.5 means +1.5%.
  • rank, maxsupply, totalsupply and fdv are blank when the coin has none.
  • Money values come in the pair's currency; rank, supply and name need no currency.

Periods

24hDefault, Free
1hPlus
7d, 30d, 1yPlus*

*If your CoinTable account was created before Nov 1, 2026, 7d, 30d and 1y stay free for you. A period that needs Plus shows a message in the cell and uses no update.

Periods work with change and changepct; high, low and volume accept "24h".

Price on a date (Plus)

=COINTABLE("BTC", "price", DATE(2026,6,30)) shows Bitcoin's price on June 30, 2026. The date can also be text like "2026-06-30" or a cell with a date. It works for price only, within the last year, and the day is counted in your spreadsheet's time zone.

Each price is the day's closing price in UTC. Past prices don't change, so Refresh doesn't look them up again.

A whole column

=COINTABLE(A2:A20) fills a column of the same height, one value per coin. Use one column: A2:B20 shows "Use one column, like A2:A20." If row 1 of the sheet is in the range, it's a header and gets no value. A row with a problem shows its message as text, with a red corner. SUM skips text, so look for red corners before you trust a total. If the cells below the formula aren't empty, Sheets shows #REF!: clear them. Each coin uses its own update, and the CoinTable panel shows what the column costs.

Move from GOOGLEFINANCE

GOOGLEFINANCECOINTABLE
=GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:BTCUSD")=COINTABLE("BTC")
=GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:BTCEUR")=COINTABLE("BTC/EUR")
=GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:ETHUSD", "changepct")=COINTABLE("ETH", "changepct")
=INDEX(GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:BTCUSD", "price", DATE(2026,6,30)), 2, 2)=COINTABLE("BTC", "price", DATE(2026,6,30)) (Plus)

For crypto, you can keep a GOOGLEFINANCE formula and swap the function name: =GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:BTCEUR") becomes =COINTABLE("CURRENCY:BTCEUR"). Do this only for crypto. COINTABLE reads every ticker as a coin, and some stock and index tickers are also coins: TSLA, META, SPX and GOLD. A stock formula would quietly show a coin's price.

Errors

A formula that can't return a value shows #ERROR!. Hover over the cell to read why. These are the common messages.
